Europe's best bird watching and fishing paradise
The Danube Delta has a continental climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. It receives less rainfall than the rest of Romania but high humidity from the water. Summer temperatures reach 28–32°C.
Best time to visit
April–May for bird migration (over 300 species). June–September for fishing and boat trips. September for pelican watching.
Worth knowing
June–August if you are sensitive to mosquitoes (bring repellent). Winters are quiet but channels can freeze.
