Spring (March–May)
6–23°C ExcellentSpring is one of the best times to visit Romania. The countryside is green, flowers are blooming, crowds are thin and prices are lower than summer. April and May are particularly good: mild temperatures, long days and ideal conditions for hiking, castle visits and cultural tourism.
- Hiking in the Carpathians
- Castle and history tours
- Danube Delta bird watching (peak April–May)
- Transylvania without the summer crowds
- Painted monasteries of Bucovina
- Beach — sea is still cold until June
Summer (June–August)
18–32°C Peak seasonSummer is the busiest and hottest season. The Black Sea coast is Romania's main draw in July–August. Bucharest can be very hot (35°C+), so many locals escape to the mountains or coast. Mountain hiking is excellent in summer. Book accommodation early.

- Mountain hiking (escape city heat)
- Danube Delta fishing and boat trips
- Music festivals
- Long daylight hours

- Busy and expensive coastal resorts
Autumn (September–October)
8–25°C Hidden gemSeptember and October are arguably the best months to visit Romania. Weather is warm but not hot, crowds are gone, and the landscapes are spectacular — especially Transylvania's autumn foliage. Harvest festivals, wine routes and Halloween events at Bran Castle make it memorable.
- Transylvania autumn colours
- Hiking with fewer tourists
- Wine and harvest festivals
- Halloween at Bran Castle (October)
- Fishing in the Danube Delta
- Swimming — sea cools quickly after September
Winter (December–February)
-3–5°C For specific interestsWinter is cold but has its own magic. Christmas markets in Sibiu, Brașov and Bucharest are among Europe's best. Ski resorts at Poiana Brașov and Sinaia offer good slopes with fewer crowds than the Alps.
